Activities: Working vineyard - help with vineyard work, gardening, lawn mowing, general housework including cooking (if you wish).
Comments: Hospitable ex Southland couple who have been involved in FHINZ fo many years - recently relocated. Visitors have their own room either in house or seperate. Special diets okay - let us know in advance. Relaxing rural setting - heart of Marlborough Wine Country. Own transport would be an advantage if you want to explore this wonderful area.
Hobbies: Meeting new people, gardening, boating, tramping/walking, cycling, tennis & ski-ing.
 
Havelock T&R S
Activities: Sheep, beef, mussels, tourist accommodation on steep hill country. Help with fencing, stock work, mussel work, wood gathering/chopping, painting, general maintenance, gardening, child care, housework.
Comments: We are home educators, Christians, non-smokers and non-drinkers, 6 children at home: teenage to baby. Visitors have several choices of accommodation depending on time of year and length of stay, no TV available. We are very remote, on coast of the Outer Pelorus Sounds. Regular transport on mailboat each Friday leaving Havelock at 9:30am. Alternative transport can be arranged with prior notice and flexibility.
Hobbies: Swimming, boating, diving, hunting, camping, tramping, rubberstamping, reading and music.
 
Kaikoura D E
Activities: Dairy farm with native bush. Weeding, working round the pond in our large garden, general farm work and helping cook.
Comments: Hill country property. I live here with my teenage daughter, my son returns for school holidays. We enjoy meeting travellers and sharing experiences. Visitors have their own room in house. Whale watching and swimming with the dolphins are the main attraction in Kaikoura. Visitors are picked up from Kaikoura.

Activities: Farm Park, rental cottage and offsite Llama Trekking. Chickens, wallaby, dogs, sheep, chinchillas, ponies, geese, ducks, fawn, goats, etc. Welcome and show visitors around park, maintenance projects, general housework & cleaning in our house and rental
Comments: Recent migrants from England, trying to become self sufficient. Meals based on what we produce! No fussy eaters. Own private double or single bedrooms, suit individuals or a couple. 5 min from i-Site.
 
Kaikoura H&B M
Activities: 4000 sheep, 250 cattle, housework, firewood, gardening, fencing, cooking and cleaning Kaikoura coast track accommodation.
Comments: 45 mins south of Kaikoura.5 mins to beach. Lots of bush, tramping, swimming pool, own accommodation or in home depending on time of year, own bathroom usually available. Collect from SH 1, 10 minutes away. We enjoy books, tramping, music, boating, fishing, woodwork. The Kaikoura coast track keeps us busy in summer.
 
Kaikoura R C
Activities: Not a farm – but large garden and house. General house duties and gardening and some maintenance.
Comments: My grandson and his mother also live here. I have 3 cats. Own bedroom in the house. No smoking in house. 15 min walk from the town centre. Pick up from the bus if you need.
Hobbies: Gardening and cooking. Home decorating.
 
Kohatu J&J M
Activities: Sheep and beef plus 2 horses, breeding sow, goats, chooks & 2 dogs. Duties include gardening, feeding animals, tree pruning, general maintenance & some light housework. Motorbikes and horse available for riding for those with experience.
Comments: We have a preschooler. Visitor will have own room. Easy going friendly, healthy lifestyle. Nearest town 10 min. Nelson airport & Nelson lakes 35 min. Nearby bushwalks, fishing, river for swimming.
Hobbies: Rural lifestyle, family & friends.
 
Marlborough L D
Activities: Day Spa, Beauty & Health Retreat. Maintenance, veg gardens, mowing: ride on and hand mower, weed wacking, fencing, planting, mulching olives, grapes, veges, heirloom potatoes.
Comments: Nominated for an environmental award. Helpers have their own room. Own car is helpful to see the district; great wineries, river fishing and photography, Blenheim 14 min.
Hobbies: Developing land, music, BBQ, motor bike riding, fishing, meeting new great people.
 
Motueka M&G J
Activities: Hobby farm: cattle, sheep, alpacas, chickens, developing a nut cracking/roasting business (sell at Farmers Market). Spin & weave alpaca fibre. Learning organic methods of farming, but not completely organic.
Comments: Couple with 1 spare room in our home for guests. Surrounding horticultural area - apples, kiwifruit, hops, olives, grapes.
Hobbies: Spinning, weaving, alpacas, 4 wheel drive.
 
Motueka V&T W
Activities: Sheep, cattle and goats. Livestock work, feeding, general farm tasks (eg fencing) & gardening (large garden open to public).
Comments: Strictly non smoking. Double or twin bedroom available in family home. 40min to Abel Tasman and Kahurangi national parks. Close to fruit, wine and craft areas.
Hobbies: Horses, gardening, natural history, geography and travel.
 
Motueka T&J E
Activities: Hobby farm, boarding kennel & cattery. Poultry, pigs, horses and mini mule. We hand and machine milk one cow and experimenting with cheese making. Visitors must be self sufficient as well as helping with family life. Gardening always needed!
Comments: Two primary aged boys, lots of pets. Single female visitors have a room in the house, couples and chaps live in a two roomed barn with basic facilities and TV. Sometimes you may need to cook your own meals, I always like help in the kitchen. Mostly home grown or caught meat/fish, rarely from the super market. I barter milk in return for home produced produce. Near swimming river and Mt Arthur.
Hobbies: family, horses, self sufficiency, relaxation, TV, and a hot bath!
 
Moutere K E
Activities: Horticulture: blackcurrants, grapes, olives, weeds, and trees. Conventional growing, considering organic & biodynamic. Currently 4 pigs, cat & lots of quail. Variety of jobs, often fun jobs (or weed taming). Tractor experience helpful. Cooking dinner if
Comments: Single male (Horticultural scientist) in mid 20’s, living in a 'cottage' on farm. Stay in house or loft/shed, nice setting, good views. Pickup from Nelson (40 km) or Motueka. Car may be available if aged over 25. I am away at least once a year.
Hobbies: Travel, work, mountain climb, chillaxing, bike riding, appreciating wine & 'micro' brews, smoke, BBQ's.
 
Murchison F B
Activities: Not a farm, small boutique fishing lodge. Generally the work required to be undertaken would be gardening.
Comments: Male living alone. Located on the banks of the Owen River. Close to rafting, fishing, mountain bike riding, tramping.
 
Nelson N&N S
Activities: Hobby farm with organic gardens, fruit trees, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats. Help with gardening (vegetable & flower gardens), maintaining lawn and general tidying property.
Comments: Family of 4, children older. Partly furnished house bus for accomodation. Hunting block on doorstep. Nearest town 15 min, river 2 min walk away, Nelson lakes 25 min (great tramping).
Hobbies: Hunting, gardening and country lifestyle.

Activities: Hobby farm. Housekeeping, cooking, baby sit. Maintain the land, weed control, looking after animals (dogs, goat & pig).
Comments: Visitor have there own self contained sleep out, with sky TV and broadband connection. One primary aged child.
 
Orinoco I&C M
Activities: Lifestyle farm: cattle, chooks, pigs & lap dogs. Fencing, clearing bush, firewood, general maintenance, feed animals, stock work, some ... light duties around home indoors & outdoors.
Comments: Newly married couple. Own room with double bed. Wireless internet, sky TV (rugby channel), outdoor spa. Can pick up from Motueka 20 min. Near Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes, Kahurangi National Park, Motueka River (trout fishing & swimming), cafes, vineyards, arts & crafts.
Hobbies: Artist (paint), garden, dogs, outdoors, all sorts of sports & mini cars.
 
Picton C&U S
Activities: Not a farm, small holiday resort. Bed making, cleaning units, gardening, food preparation, assisting guests.
Comments: Accommodation in small unit, eat with owners. Sea/Air access only, surrounded by bush and sea. Walks, fishing, rowing, canoeing, swimming. Helpers are welcome to use resort facilities if they are free ie dinghys, canoes, library (TV and video) and games room. If resort is not busy, helpers are able to join guests on fishing launch for the day.

Activities: Holiday accommodation business, dealing with the public, cleaning units, maintenance on buildings, grounds, etc; busy period Oct - April. Also 40 perindale ewes; farm work includes dealing with the animals, scrub clearing, fence maintenance, etc
Comments: At northern end of Queen Charlotte walkway, in coastal forest. Access by boat only, $65 return, I can negotiate ½ fares for staff, prepared to fund this for the right person working here. No state power, own micro hydro system which means no mod cons. Do not bring hair driers, electric razers etc. Self contained accommodation. Dinghies, kayaks, bush walks, peace & tranquillity. Swimming, snorkel, fish, dive etc. I live alone, son at boarding school home weekends; partner lives locally with 3 children.

Activities: Luxury homestay on Queen Charlotte Track. Work is general house and some outdoors.
Comments: Surrounded by water and bush, own beach. Furneaux Lodge is walking distance. Suit male/female, 2 females or female 25+. Kayaking, bushwalks, fishing & swimming. Laid back atmosphere in an amazing environment.
 
Picton B&B C
Activities: Hobby farm (cattle, pigs, donkeys, sheep, goats, one llama, poultry and dogs). Clean chook house, feeding hay, tending orchard, mowing grass, grooming donkeys, firewood and gardening. We also have a 10 tent site campsite.
Comments: On Queen Charlotte walking track at head of Endeavour Inlet – fishing,kayaking and tramping – 25 min to Furneaux Lodge. 2 boys at boarding school. Visitor has own room. No road access but regular water taxi – approx. $35 one way/ $60 return.
 
Picton J H
Activities: Family business mainly beekeepers. Sheep, beef cows, dairy goats, cheese, farm and homestay.
Comments: In Marlborough Sounds. 1 ¼hr Blenheim, 1hr Picton. Swimming, fishing, walking.

Activities: Small Backpackers Hostel and care of a holiday home. Housekeeping duties for hostel & general help around property.
Comments: On Queen Charlotte Walkway in Endeavour Inlet. Access by water taxi from Picton. Cafe/restaurant/bar 20 min walk. Beautiful native bush walks and water views. Kayak available. Email available. Stay in own room in 12 year old home. Happy home with an affinity to people of other cultures.
Hobbies: fishing, boating, hunting, crafts and cooking.
 
Tadmore K&S S
Activities: 550 cow dairy farm, milking, gardening, light housework, weed control and calf rearing.
Comments: Young couple with 2 preschoolers, must like children. Happy family & enjoy the company of easy going people! You get your own room, and we eat as a family. Swimming pool & bikes available; tramping and hunting in bush on our back door step. Closest town 10 min. Pick up from Motueka or Nelson, 35-40 min.
Hobbies: Running, walking, golf, reading, hunting, rugby.
 
Wakefield K&S S
Activities: 500 dairy cows. Jobs may include childcare, light housework, gardening, cooking, maybe some farm work.
Comments: One preschool child. You will eat with the family and have your own room. We eat everything really. Swimming pool and bikes available. We enjoy hearing about other peoples cultures and lifestyles, willing to help with anything.
Hobbies: Fishing, rugby, tramping, walking, running, reading, socialising, family time.
